After each session, the entire body of water is pumped and filtered through a 4 part filtration and sterilization system three times. Our filtration system is able to filter particles from the water to 1 micron in size and is FDA compliant for drinking water (Class 1 Filtration). After that we blast it with UV light, dose it with food grade hydrogen peroxide and treat it with ozone. After that it’s good to go. In addition, everyone is required to take a shower before entering the tank in order to wash off body oil, make up, hair products, etc.

There is 1500 pounds of Epsom salt dissolved in each of our tanks. The float solution’s high salinity level alone creates an environment in which biological entities cannot proliferate. Think of the Dead Sea. It’s called the Dead Sea for a reason. Nothing can live in it. The solution in our tanks is 3.5-4 times “saltier” than the Dead Sea.

A strand of hair is about 50 microns, for a point of reference. After that we blast it with UV light, dose it with 35% hydrogen peroxide and treat it with ozone. Our filters are replaced bi-weekly and the ozone tubes are inspected bi-weekly and are replaced bi-annually (or as needed).
Not to get too scientific on you but this is how UV and Ozone work together: When germicidal UV light (UV-C) and ozone react the result is the production of hydroxyl radicals. This reaction is known as the Advanced Oxidation Process, or AOP. Hydroxyl radicals (•OH) are the most powerful oxidation agents available, quickly destroying bacteria, viruses, pathogens and other contaminants that occur in water. Hydroxyl radicals also destroy chlorine and bromine resistant microorganisms, such as Cryptosporidium Parvum, Giardia and E.Coli.
When we clean our rooms between clients, we also disinfect the surfaces that people are likely to have touched using hospital grade hydrogen peroxide. These surfaces include shower handles, soap/shampoo dispensers, buttons inside the tank, the tank handle, door knobs, fresh water spray bottle in the tank, the “halo” neck support, ear wash solution, and anywhere else in/on the cabin where clients are likely to have touched. As an increased protocol during COVID we have invested in a fogger that uses Vital Oxide which has been deemed by the EPA to be effective at killing the COVID virus.
